L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion
I am all head over heels for this Nude Magique Cushion by L’Oréal. The Cushion Compact makeup trend is finally – slowly but surely – making its way to the Western makeup industry. Cushion Compacts have been a big hit among Asian makeup brands in the past couple of years, especially in Korea where it all first started. Cushion Compacts are known for its multiple benefits as they include (mostly high) SPF & other skincare ingredients, such as a moisturizer, a skin treatment and so much more.
Cushion Compacts are basically BB creams, also known as Blemish Balms or Blemish Base, but thinned out to a watery consistency that’s poured into a compact and topped with a sponge. The included thin sponge is what does the trick when using the Cushion Compact. By pressing the thin sponge into the “cushion” you’ll notice how the liquid formula will be released. By using dabbing motion while applying the product it will leave your skin with a nice natural look with a healthy dewy finish, which basically sums up the makeup trend of Korea – where it’s all about that youthful look.
Less is more is what I’ve learned from this makeup trend. I have to admit – at first – I was a bit skeptical about all the hype around this trend, since I was used to the more Western makeup look, which is the opposite of natural. What I love about Cushion Compacts is that they give the skin the chance to breathe, unlike clogging the pores with a foundation, which I was surely guilty of.
Now since I’m already familiar with this trend and have used several BB creams and Cushion Compacts in the past, it’s of course a no brainer for me to try out L’Oréal’s take on these Cushion Compacts. Needless to say, this Nude Magique Cushion by L’Oréal, has (surprisingly) not disappointed me at all.
Packaging
For a drugstore brand, I have to give some props to the design of this packaging. I love how compact it is; just like any other Cushion Compacts it doesn’t weight heavy, has a decent size and most importantly, it has a nice build-in mirror, which perfectly comes in handy for any touch-ups while on the go. The included applicator works great and it’s easy to clean. Unfortunately, there is one downside to this packaging. The lid inside the compact doesn’t close very well, so be careful and make sure you press the lid all around until it’s entirely closed ‘cause otherwise the product inside the cushion will be dried out quickly.
Product
Just like any other Cushion Compacts on the market, this one here gives a light to medium coverage, leaving the skin with a nice dewy glow finish. This product will work great on those who have dry to normal skin, but if you have a combination to oily skin don’t worry, just use a translucent powder to set the product in place and you are good to go. I love how easy this included sponge applicator makes, it makes it so much easier to apply the product, without any exaggeration, my daily makeup routine has never been this fast before.
This Cushion Compact has SPF 29, which I can really appreciate ‘cause – as much as I hate to admit – I’m always too lazy to add a sunscreen protector into my daily routine. Color selection wise, there is a total of 6 shades to choose from: 01 Porcelain, 03 Vanilla, 06 Rose Beige, 07 Golden Beige, 09 Beige, and 11 Golden. I am using shade 07 in Golden Beige and it surprisingly fits my complexion very well. Most Western drugstore brand foundations either end up being too light or too dark for me, let alone having one with a yellow undertone to it, so two thumbs up for the color selection.
Furthermore, this Cushion Compact contains 14,6 gram of product, not much in my opinion. I’ve been testing out this product for three weeks straight and mine is basically already used up, so unfortunately this Cushion Compact won’t last long. Tip of the day: turn the “cushion” around and I will guarantee you’ll get more use out of this product.
This Nude Magique Cushion costs €17,99 in The Netherlands. It’s a reasonable price, I’d say, considering how well this product performs. So overall, I’m very satisfied with this Cushion Compact. As a matter of fact, I love it so much that I’ve already bought a second one. So L’Oréal you certainly did not disappoint me!
