Misses of The Month
Now that I’ve covered positive reviews about a bunch of products that have amazed me the most, I think it’s about time for some changes, don’t you think? So let me turn the tables a bit and talk about some misses of the month; products that have – to say the least – done less than a great job (well at least, in my experience). I do want to highlight that this post has nothing to do with bashing products; I am just sharing my experience and giving my two cents on these products like I have always done in any other blog post of mine. Please do keep in mind that I have a normal to combination skin. So what doesn’t work for me does not automatically mean that it won’t work for you either. Now with that being said, let’s jump right into the products, shall we?!
Kiko – Nail polish
It’s hard for me to put these Kiko nail polishes in this specific post, ‘cause I’m kind of having a love and hate relationship with these two products. I love them due to its quick dry and its high shine finish and as if that isn’t enough it only cost a few euros for a Kiko nail polish. You might think that that’s all you need in a nail polish and I totally agree to it, but there is one downside to these nail polishes. For some reason, after only a few days wear, these nail polishes gets a dirty looking yellow coat on it. I still can’t figure it out what it is that causes this problem but I’ve been experiencing it with both colors, which comes from two different lines. I’ve read some reviews about the Kiko nail polishes, but still can’t find anything regarding this issue. It puts me into curiosity whether it’s only me who is experiencing this problem. Although there’s only one con to these nail polishes it’s still hard for me to condone this problem since the yellow coat doesn’t look much appealing, which means you’ll have to remove the nail polish quicker than usual.
NARS – All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation
With high expectations, I have to say out of the three, this product here has disappointed me the most. It’s not easy for us, Dutchies, to get our hands on some products or even brands and NARS is no exception. I have heard a lot of great things about this brand, so as you can guess I was all head over heels when I saw NARS’ counter at Sephora during my holiday at Barcelona. Needless to say, I don’t have any complains about some of the other products that I bought from this brand, but unfortunately this one here isn’t a win for me. This foundation leaves you with a nice dewy face, but after I’ve applied this foundation, I immediately noticed that it settled into my fine lines and makes dry patches even more noticeable. As I have mentioned before, I have a normal to combination skin, so now and then I will get a bit oily on my T-zone but nothing that a primer or setting powder can’t help. Despite the dewy finish of this foundation, which I like, it also leaves your face with an uncomfortable greasy or sticky feeling. With pain in my heart, considering it wasn’t much of a cheap one, I have to leave this one out ‘cause it obviously isn’t made for me.
LA Splash – Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick
I’m a big fan of matte lipsticks; especially liquid lipsticks, but this one here didn’t make the cut for me. I was very excited when I first received the package, ‘cause from what I saw online it looked great. The pigmentation seemed to be there and the packaging is just to die for. The moment I applied this product I could notice the bad chemical smell, it’s as if you’re inhaling some sort of cleaning solution with high alcohol percentage. It even made me feel nauseous, ‘cause you can literally taste that nasty chemical/alcohol smell throughout the day. I have to say the pigmentation is great, but boy oh boy this liquid lipstick is drying your lips out of you. For someone who uses matte lipsticks and liquid lipsticks on a daily basis, I can confidently say that this one here is by far the most drying lip product that I’ve ever used. It’s unfortunate, because I really love the colors and how pigmented they are but the smell and the dry feeling is something I really can’t endure.
Now, here you have it guys some of my misses of the month. Like I said before, I don’t have any intention on bashing any of those products, they’re all written from my own experiences that I’ve had with these beauty products. Then again, what doesn’t work for me doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. I just want to share my experiences with you all and help you guys out if you were hesitant on trying any of these products. I hope you enjoyed while reading. As always thanks for reading and I shall talk to you very soon!
