How To: Headband Braid

So there’s one hairdo I always tend to gravitate towards whenever I want my bangs to get out of my face – a headband braid. Usually I’d like to wear my hair down, but at times bangs can be frustrating, especially when it’s getting a bit humid outside. Since I don’t really like how a regular ponytail looks on me, I came up with this hairdo. This headband braid can definitely turn any hairstyle into looking cute without spending much time, and the great part is, it can be worn in all different ways; hair down or hair up, with a ponytail or even in a bun just like I did on my previous blog post. I got questioned a lot about this side braid and I never could explain properly how to do it, so I am sharing this tutorial with you guys by showing you two different ways of how to wear this hairstyle. Now without further ado, let's begin!
1. Grab a section of hair about 2-3 inches and separate it from the rest of the hair. The more hair you take the bigger the braid will be.
2. Clip the rest of the hair in place to make sure it won’t get in the way.
3. Take an inch of hair.

4. Divide the hair into three equal sections.
5. Now we are going to do the normal French braid.
6. Take the left section and bring this over the center. Do the same with the right section and cross it over to the center.

7. Now here, you’ll take some hair at the bottom and add this to the left and right section and cross both sections over the center.
8. Keep repeating step 7 until you’ve reach all the hair.
9. After you have used all the hair that you had sectioned apart, continue with a normal plait until you have 3 inches left at the end.

10. Pull your fingers slightly to the end of the hair and secure it with an elastic band.
11. Pull gently on the braid to get that subtle messy look.
12. Keep doing this to your liking.

13. It should look like this.

14. If you want to wear this braid with hair down, just secure the braid underneath the hair with some bobby pins like I do here.
15. Make sure the bobby pins are well covered beneath the hair.
16. This should be the end result.

17. For a ponytail, just add the braid with the rest of the hair and tie it all together with a hair tie, but don’t forget to remove the hair tie of the braid afterwards.
