How to: Apply Dark Lipstick
As promise, here’s a tutorial on how to use dark lipsticks. I have been a fan of dark lipsticks for some time now and have tried quite a few, from red to berry to brown colors and from matte to creamy ones, you name it. I love to rock vampy lips once in a while, especially on special occasions – it just glams up the whole look immediately. That nice sultry, sophisticated and kind of mysterious look is what I find appealing and the best part is that everyone can pull this look off! Now, I know it can be a hassle sometimes to put on such a dark lipstick, especially those creamy ones, but believe me all you need is to practice. So without further ado lets begin with this tutorial!
Step 1
This step is important. Make sure to exfoliate the lips thoroughly for a smoother application. You can use a toothbrush or a lip scrubber like I have here.
Step 2
Apply a nice coat of lip balm to the lips and wait for a minute for it to soak up and blot away the remaining product.
Step 3
Take a nude lip color pencil and start filling in the lips, this will help neutralizing your lip color, so you’ll have a better color pay off when you apply your dark lipstick.
Step 4
Now it’s time to apply your lipstick. Just take your time and carefully trace your natural lip shape.
Step 5
Take a tissue paper and blot your lips by gently pressing them together.
Step 6
If you want your lipstick to stay put throughout the day then make sure to not skip the following three steps. First, remove the layers from the tissue then take one layer and hold it against your lips.
Step 7
Use a big fluffy brush, dip into some translucent powder and tap away the excess products.
Step 8
Now gently press the brush onto the lips.
Step 9
Apply your dark lipstick once more.
Step 10
Now blot the lips for the last time.
Step 11
Use a concealer to correct mistakes or if you want to achieve nice crisp lips.
Step 12
Start outlining the lips with a small thin brush for a better result.
Et voila! Now you have those sexy and sultry dark lippies and I promise they will not smudge or budge and will last throughout the day. It may take some time but believe me it’s all worth it. Remember makeup is like fashion, just have fun with it and rock them with confidence! Good luck guys and as always thanks for reading!
