Best Concealers
There are several remedies to help get rid off dark circles. A healthy lifestyle is one of them; drink enough water, get enough vitamin C in your system and most importantly, make sure you rest well, are the very few I hear a lot around me and I am still working on it. Since dark circles don’t go away overnight and while this whole healthy lifestyle is still work in progress I can surely use some help on the beauty department – my old trusty concealers!
Concealers have been my go-to beauty product for the longest time now. I have to say I’m pretty blessed with a nice and healthy skin, so there isn’t much for me to cover besides my (unfortunate) dark circles. I started to get dark circles somewhere around my teenage years and as I was getting older my dark circles started to become more visible. As you probably can guess, I was playing around with concealers at a very young age, just to achieve that instant fresh and awake look. So for today I have narrowed down some of my best concealers, from drugstore brands to high-end brands, I’m going to share them all today!
Maybelline – Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Concealer
Out of all the drugstore brands that I have tried so far, I have to say when it comes to concealers, Maybelline is definitely one of my favorite drugstore brands. I have tried quite a few of their concealers and they were all impressively great in their own way. But this one here was the first concealer that I have tried from Maybelline, during my vacation in Hong Kong, and I was immediately sold by the very first try. This concealer blends easily and does a great job on covering dark circles; it has a medium to full coverage I would say. What I love about this concealer is that it has a smooth consistency; it sets beautifully, which gives off a nice natural look. The only downside is that there are only three colors to choose from, but that’s often the case with drugstore brands I think. If I’m right, they have discontinued this product in some countries, but they are still available in HK or you can find it on Ebay for much cheaper.
Maybelline – Fit Me Concealer
Unfortunately they doesn’t sell the above-mentioned concealer here in The Netherlands, so I thought I would give this Fit Me concealer a try, and again Maybelline has won my heart over for the second time. With this concealer I am using color nr. 20 and it fits my skin tone perfectly. The Fit Me concealer has a better color selection, there’s in total 6 shades to choose from. The consistency of this concealer is very thin and lightweight; it blends nice and easily, but has a more natural coverage compared to the Mineral Power Concealer. Though this concealer has a more light to medium coverage it surely does a great job on covering those imperfections. But on days when my dark circles are really bad, this one here won’t do the trick for me, so what I like to do is to mix this concealer with another concealer to still achieve that full coverage. I just love how natural this concealer sets into the skin.
Urban Decay – Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer
I’ve been using this concealer on and off for a while now and I still love it till this day. This concealer is slight medium to full coverage. I love how this concealer covers; it instantly makes my dark circles disappear. Mind you, be quick with blending ‘cause once this concealer sets, it sets for the rest of the day. This concealer will not move or budge until you decide to remove it. Though it’s a liquid concealer, I’ve noticed that it’s a bit dry, so it might not work on people with dry skin. The great thing about this concealer is that it doesn’t get cakey under the eye, plus it doesn’t crease at all and that surely is a win-win for me! As crazy as it sounds, even though there are 11 shades to choose from, there’s none that fits my complexion and that’s a problem I rarely experience. It’s either too light or too dark. So in order to make this work, I have to make my own concoction by mixing two different colors together just so I can get the color match I need. Despite the small con I still enjoy using this concealer, ‘cause the formula of this concealer is something that I cannot deny.
NARS – Radiant Creamy Concealer
Now I’ve been saving the best for last. This Radiant Creamy Concealer is truly second to none in my opinion. The consistency of this concealer is something I’ve never used before. Just like its name holds; it’s (super) creamy but still covers well with dark circles and imperfections. This concealer won’t get cakey and nor will it crease. It glides on like nothing and sets into the skin beautifully. This concealer has also a medium to full coverage. Color selection wise, there are in total 10 shades to choose from. I am using the color Custard and it fits my complexion perfectly. There’s truly not a bad thing to say about this product, it’s kind of awful how much I love this concealer since we don’t have NARS in The Netherlands. So while I am still hoping and praying for NARS to hit our market, I guess I will be thrifty on this one until I can get my hands on a back up.
So these are my top favorite concealers that I’ve been using on a regular basis. I like to alternate between these concealers depending on what occasion I’m attending. Whenever I need my makeup to be long lasting, I either like to use the Naked concealer or the one from NARS and sometimes I will even mix these two together to achieve that full coverage. For a casual day I tend to gravitate towards one of the Maybelline concealers more since I don’t need much coverage besides my dark circles.
I hope you guys enjoyed reading and find this post somewhat helpful. Thanks for reading and I shall talk to you soon!
